Glossary
Here are some terms you should know in the world of weight training.
- Repetitions (or “reps“): In every set, you will do the exercise X number of times, or “X reps”
- Sets: Grouping of repetitions, for example “5 reps, 3 sets”. That means you will do the exercise 15 times total.
- Volume: The amount of total weight (lbs) lifted in a period.
Here’s a list of terms that are not that important for a beginner…
- Ramping up: increasing the weight from set to set in any given exercise.
- Sets Across: a number of sets where the weight used does not change from set to set.
One day, this list will be more complete and comprehensive.
